These terms are a starting draft and are not legal advice. They should be reviewed by an attorney before you rely on them.
1. What DeafCanWork Is
DeafCanWork is a job board built for Deaf, hard-of-hearing, and DeafBlind job seekers. We connect employers with Deaf talent. We're a listing platform — not a recruiting agency, staffing firm, or employment broker.
2. For Job Seekers
Browsing and applying for jobs on DeafCanWork is free, always.
You're responsible for the accuracy of anything you submit (resumes, applications, messages).
DeafCanWork does not verify every job listing. Do your own research before accepting any offer.
We don't guarantee you'll get hired, and we're not a party to any employment agreement you reach with an employer.
3. For Employers
Accurate listings. Job postings must describe real, open positions. No bait-and-switch, no misleading titles or pay.
No discrimination. Listings must comply with the ADA and all applicable anti-discrimination laws. You may not exclude Deaf, hard-of-hearing, or DeafBlind applicants because of their disability.
Communication access. Posting on DeafCanWork signals that your hiring process is accessible to Deaf applicants (interpreters for interviews, accessible application processes, etc.).
You're responsible for your own hiring decisions. DeafCanWork doesn't screen candidates for you.
Listing standards. Every listing must follow our Listing Standards — real jobs only, accurate pay and location, and no phone-only application processes.
4. Pricing
First listing: free for 30 days.
Standard listing: $49 for 30 days.
Featured listing: $99 for 30 days (pinned at the top of the board).
Monthly subscription: $149/month for up to 10 active listings.
Nonprofits: post free, permanently.
Job seekers: never pay — browsing and applying is always free.
Payments are processed securely through Stripe. All fees are non-refundable once a listing goes live, unless we remove it for a policy violation.
5. What We Don't Do
We don't guarantee the accuracy, completeness, or legality of any job listing.
We don't guarantee employment outcomes for job seekers or hiring outcomes for employers.
We don't verify employer identities beyond what's reasonable for a small platform.
We don't mediate disputes between employers and job seekers.
6. Acceptable Use
You agree not to:
Post false, misleading, or fraudulent content
Harass, threaten, or discriminate against any user
Scrape, copy, or redistribute site content without permission
Attempt to hack, disrupt, or overload the service
Use the platform for anything illegal
7. Termination
We can suspend or terminate your account if you violate these terms — especially for fraudulent listings, discrimination, or harassment. You can delete your account at any time by contacting us.
8. Limitation of Liability
DeafCanWork is provided "as is." To the maximum extent allowed by law, we're not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the platform. Our total liability is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim (or $0 if you paid nothing).
9. Governing Law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Oregon. Any disputes will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in Oregon.
10. Changes to These Terms
We may update these terms from time to time. If we make significant changes, we'll post a notice on the site. Continuing to use DeafCanWork after changes means you accept the new terms.
